Does ss 904l tube scratch easily?

Ss 904l tube tends to have low resistance to scratches because of their low rockwell hardness. Very important to note that this rockwell hardness depends entirely upon the hardness of the material. Hence they tend to scratch easily, when comparing other grades of stainless steel alloys.

What do you weld 904l tubing with?

TIG/GTAW, SMAW, SAW, MIG/GMAW and PAW are the ideal ways by which you can weld 904l tubing. The material which is to be used for this purpose must be a nickel-based alloy or filter metal.

  • It is also very important to note that when using nickel-based alloy or filter metal, one must limit the heat input to 1.5Kj/mm. Adding to this, the temperature should also be limited to or less than 284oF.
  • Another thing to note that while welding, you should not perform preheating or post heating. The dry electrodes must be in accordance with the manufacturer’s instruction.
