Incoloy 825 is an alloy of nickel, chromium and iron that has added copper and titanium. The material is known for offering high resistance to corrosion in moderately oxidizing and reducing environments. The incoloy 825 plate material is quite similar to alloy 800 but shows improved resistance to aqueous corrosion.
It can withstand chloride ion related stress corrosion cracking and crevice corrosion. The added titanium stabilizes the alloy against intergranular corrosion.
The UNS N08825 plate maintains its ductility across a wide temperature range from cryogenic to 538 °C. However, if the plate is exposed to a temperature above 540 °C, there is a change in its microstructure. This will reduce the ductility and impact strength.
However, the plate can be strengthened by cold working. Due to all these properties, the plate is used in industries like petrochemical, food processing, etc.
Nickel alloy 825 coil and incoloy 925 have nearly identical chemical compositions, hence they offer similar corrosion resistance and physical properties. However, alloy 925 has higher strength levels due to precipitation strengthening.
mall additions in the composition lead to the formation of microscopic precipitates after the heat treatment process. The fine precipitate increases the yield strength by almost 4 times.
