Inconel 600 tube is a material which offers great resistance to corrosion. Good mechanical properties are inherited by this material and has a duo combination of both strength and workability properties. The presence of Nickel in higher levels allows it to be highly resistant to corrosion to most inorganic compounds.
Compounds containing sulphur are also resisted by this material, thanks to the presence of chromium, and also provide resistance in oxidized environments at relatively high temperatures. Due to its versatile nature, 2.4816 Inconel 600 condenser tubes is used in a wide range of applications whose temperature range from lower to above 20000F.
With higher contents of Nickel-Cobalt alloy, broad range of strength and hardness is achieved by alloy 600 tube. It exhibits hardness range between 65B to 85B max Rockwell. This hardness range is one of the prime reasons why it exhibits superior strength capabilities and excellent ductility. In stress-reducing environments, it shows good resistance to wear and tear.

Although it has excellent corrosion resistance properties, if exposed to temperatures above 12500F or 11770C, AMS 5580 tubing will oxidize, although it can operate well in cold and hot-working environments. It is also not suitable for use against strong oxidizing acids, especially hot nitric acids.
On the other hand, in the annealing conditions, this material has good workability both in good and hot working operations. After this step, you can strengthen the material by heat treating or stress revealing.

Based on the manufacturing, quality and availability, Inconel 600 seamless tube comes in variety of sizes. But when viewed overall, ideal size of this material ranges between 1/8-6 inches, in outer diameter, and with varied wall thickness.
With higher contents of Nickel, Inconel 600 tubing becomes one of the natural choices for Aeronautics. Engine parts, being particular, are exposed to high level pressure and temperature scenarios.
Their pressure and temperature along with strength and hardness are checked to retain their strength and integrity. At high temperatures, these materials expose low expansion properties. Under high stress conditions, it offers creep resistance and are corrosion resistant.
Because UNS N06600 annealed tube offers best resistance to corrosion and heat, there are some hindrances/obstacles in the manufacturing process that we need to look at. During forming process, it becomes very touch to achieve the desired shapes, which becomes another advantage of using this material.
On the other hand, considering strength to be highest for this material, AMS 5580 precision tubes faces challenges when dealing with the process of cutting, drilling, etc. When speaking with respect to cost efficiency, it is the most expensive material.
This is often a challenge for most industries and as a result, they start looking out for alternatives quickly. This also makes the product not reliable.
