Inconel plate
what is Inconel plate ?

Inconel belongs to the family of nickel-chromium superalloys. It is typically used in high temperature applications due to the formation of a thick and stable passivating oxide layer. Thus, the inconel plates are capable of resisting heat, corrosion, pressure and oxidation.

The material possesses some excellent mechanical properties and hence, can be used in the chemical and aerospace industries. There are different grades of inconel available like 188, 625, 718 and X-750.

Inconel is also popular due to its capability to withstand heavier loads. It mostly comes with a rugged construction and possesses a high tensile strength. The inconel plate suppliers ensure to maintain dimensional accuracy and sturdiness of the products.

They can also give excellent surface finishes as per specific application requirements. Inconel is ideal for elevated temperature applications up to 1204 °C.

We are delighted to introduce ourselves as the initial Inconel sheet supplier in India, are you curious to learn why its not magnetic?

Why is Inconel sheet not magnetic?

Inconel is non-magnetic in nature due to its chemical composition consisting nickel, chromium and iron. However, some inconel grades can have slight magnetic properties.

As the most trusted stockist of Inconel strip and coil in Mumbai, we offer competitive prices and adhere to standards. Discover more about its applications.

Which top 4 applications that uses Inconel coil ?
  • Inconel can withstand high temperature and pressure without losing its strength and integrity. Thus, the inconel coil can be used in aerospace components and jet engines.
  • The material comes with excellent thermal-fatigue strength, high tensile strength and oxidation resistance which is why they can be used in oil & gas applications.
  • It can withstand both oxidizing and reducing acid solutions, so found in pollution and waste processing units.
  • Inconel is reliable, heat resistant and light weight and hence, perfect for the automotive industry.

We maintain a ready stock inventory of sizes ranging from 0.010 to 4 inches in thickness and 36 to 120 inches in width for aerospace applications

Why cutting of Inconel plate is not easy ?

Inconel plate material has a high workening rate and strength. This makes it tough to machine or cut and give the desired shape.

What is thickness difference between Inconel sheet and plate ?

The inconel sheet suppliers confirm that if the metal thickness is 6 mm or less- it is a sheet. More than 6mm is a plate.

7 steps to be follow while welding of Inconel alloy plate
  • Choose the right Inconel grade like 600, 625, etc., that would suit your application requirements.
  • Make sure the surface of the inconel alloy plate is free of contaminants like oil, dirt, grease, etc.
  • Depending on the grade or thickness of the plate, you may need to preheat it. Doing so will help minimize the risk of cracking and improve weldability.
  • Select the right welding technique and used a compatible filler material.
  • Setting the right welding parameter is crucial for achieving a sound weld on the plate with minimal heat affected zone.
  • Beveal or chamfer the edge of the plate to create a proper weld groove and prepare the joint.
  • Once the welding is done, inspect the plate for any visible defects like cracks. You can also conduct NDTs to verify the weld quality.
