There are many factors which influence the corrosion resistant nature of UNS N02200 hex bar such as composition, surrounding conditions, temperature, stress and strain, surface finish, exposure time and impurities.

  • Composition: this material is purely wrought of 99.9% Nickel with small amounts of other components such as 0.40% Iron, 0.35% Silicon, 0.35% Manganese, 0.25% Copper, 0.15% Carbon and 0.01% Sulphur. With this composition, it exhibits excellent corrosion resistance and because it contains Nickle content in large amounts, it shows resistance to almost all corrosive environments.
  • Surrounding conditions: this material provide resistance to various oxidised conditions, such as acids and alkalis. They also provide resistance to dry grasses and fresh water.
  • Temperature: along with surrounding conditions, temperature under which the material is being used also plays a major role to define corrosion resistance. However, corrosion resistance may be affected if this is exposed in oxidizing or reducing conditions.
